'Smashed' Play

Last Tuesday, Year 7 students had the opportunity to watch an engaging play called 'Smashed', performed by an external theatre company. The hour-long event began with a powerful theatrical performance following the lives of three teenage friends and exploring their experiences with alcohol and peer pressure. This performance lasted approximately 30 minutes.

Following the play, students took part in an interactive workshop, which included a question-and-answer session. During this discussion, the company worked with the students to explore:

  • The social and emotional causes of underage drinking

  • The impact of alcohol on young lives

  • Social influence and decision-making

  • Where and how to seek help for themselves and others

Students gained a great deal from the session, developing a deeper understanding of how peer pressure can affect individuals and the potential consequences this can have both now and in the future.
