Term 4 2025

As we approach the Easter break, I wanted to celebrate some of the phenomenal work and events that have been taking place at Barnwood Park over the last few weeks.
For our Year 11 students, this term has been a demanding but incredibly important one. Many are diligently completing their Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) coursework across a range of subjects, expressing their knowledge and understanding in their final pieces for subjects including Art, Photography, DT and Food. Alongside this, practical exams in Drama, Music and Dance are providing opportunities for them to showcase their talents in their final performances.
The reality of the upcoming GCSE examinations is now very much in focus. Our dedicated teaching staff are working tirelessly to ensure our Year 11 students are well-equipped and confident as they approach these important assessments. We encourage all our Year 11s to continue to utilise the support available, attend Easter revision sessions, and maintain a balanced approach to their studies, ensuring they look after their wellbeing during this intensive period. Remember, your hard work and perseverance will pay off!
While Year 11 are navigating this crucial phase, the school has also seen a range of exciting and enriching activities for our other year groups:
- Our Year 10 Textiles Design students recently embarked on an inspiring trip to the renowned Pitt Rivers Museum. This invaluable experience provided them with first hand exposure to diverse textile traditions and design aesthetics from around the world, undoubtedly sparking creativity and broadening their understanding for their own projects.
- The 'Move It' dance competition saw our talented students showcase their passion for all things dance. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, teamwork, and the fantastic performances they delivered. Congratulations to all involved! This was further demonstrated during the two evenings of ‘CentreStage’, where the quality of performances by the students was excellent.
- Our commitment to inclusivity was evident at the SEND Festival of Sport. This wonderful event provided a platform for students to participate in a variety of adapted sporting activities, fostering teamwork, enjoyment, and a sense of achievement for everyone involved.
- The recent Book Fair was a resounding success, fostering a love of reading across the school. It was fantastic to see so many students excited about discovering new stories and authors. Thank you to everyone who supported this important event.
- Our Sports Leader students also enjoyed the Multi Skills PE festival, a fun and engaging opportunity to develop fundamental movement skills and participate in a range of activities, promoting a healthy and active lifestyle from an early age. The feedback from the primary schools who attended regarding how supportive and considerate our Sports Leaders are was excellent.
Looking to the future, our Year 9 students are currently in the process of choosing their GCSE options. This is an exciting time as they begin to shape their academic pathways for the next two years.
I wish you all a happy Easter break. We welcome back all students on Monday 28th April.
