Term 4 2025

For our Year 11 students, this term has been demanding, but we are delighted to report that they have worked with maturity an...

Star Students of the Term

Year 7 – Matthew Brand
Matthew has made a fantastic start to secondary school. He works extremely hard in all lessons and is always focussed. He has taken advantage of extracurricular opportunities offered – attending football club and representing the school. He is always well-behaved and polite to students and staff. He has achieved numerous house points, never been sent to AP and his attendance is 95%. Well done Matthew – keep up the good work!

Year 8 – Evelyn–May Lacey
Evelyn-May is an exemplary student.  She has a huge number of House Points, no APs and shows a fantastic work ethic in every lesson. She is an excellent role model and ambassador for the school.

Year 9 – Max Baker
Incredible resilience when faced with adversity, even coming into school with a broken collarbone and still trying your hardest in all lessons. Well done Max, your perseverance is inspiring.

Year 10 – James Holland
James is a brilliant student. He has been hugely successful in homework as well as school work. He has achieved a huge number of house points from a variety of areas. He has given excellent answers in Maths; shown effort in PE; engaged maturely with the author visit and Miss Hesketh has been particularly impressed by his determination in puzzling out a very tricky question. Excellent term James!

Year 11 – Bennet Lison
Bennet has fantastic attendance and puts excellent effort into all his lessons. He also really impressed an external visitor with his maturity and positivity. An excellent half-term. Well done!

Short Story Competition

This month, to coincide with World Book Day, we ran the 2026 Short Story Competition. It was terrific to see such a wide range of stories submitted from across the year groups. The results are as follows:

Overall Winner – Michael Griffiths 11I

KS4 Highly Commended – Agshana Varothayan 11R and Layla Huntley 11S

KS3 Highly Commended – Kaylen Westcarr 9S and Chloe Jeffries 7D

A huge well done to all of our entrants. All winning stories will be placed in the 2026 Short Story Anthology. And keep your eyes peeled for the Spring Haiku Competition!

Student Experience

This term, our Fun Friday activities have been a huge success! Students have enjoyed everything from Bingo and The Big Booky Quiz to showing off their skills in the Penalty Shootout and Just Dance. It was great to see everyone get involved, especially last week when students had the chance to vote for their favourite activity.

Our House Representatives have also been busy as we held our second meeting of the year to share ideas and suggestions. Based on their feedback regarding rewards, we are happy to announce that we are now offering traybakes alongside our popular cookies! Keep an eye on the screens around school for more updates on 'You said, we did'.

To celebrate the end of the term, the winning house will enjoy a Bouncy Castle Bonanza. We remember Jenner House taking the win at Christmas with their popcorn and disco celebration.

Looking ahead to next term, our House Representatives will be asking their peers for new Fun Friday ideas. If you have a suggestion or any other points you'd like to raise, make sure to speak with your representative so they can bring it to our next meeting!
