Student Portal

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new Student Portal, an online web platform that brings together student information that can be accessed on any web-enabled device.

The Student Portal enables students to have increased engagement with the school and provides a dedicated space to share their information such as attendance and house points, as well as timetables/classes and future reports.

Additionally, going forward, all academic reports will only be available online via the Student Portal and the parent MCAS app.

Star Students of the Term

Year 7 – Daral Howell
Daral has settled really well into Barnwood Park. He works well in all of his lessons – putting 100% effort into everything that he does and is always focussed and on task. This is evident with all the house points he is getting. He supports the school community and picks up litter if seen when he is out and about at social time. He is an extremely polite young man – here is part of an email sent from the canteen staff: 'He is so polite and well-mannered every break or lunch time whenever she serves him, no matter who is around him.' - Well done Daral!

Year 8 – Mohammed Attar
Mohammed has the highest number of positive points in the year group, not a single negative point. He has 94% attendance, has a great attitude inside and outside of the classroom and is an all round exemplary student.

Year 9 – Abigail Rollinson
Abi has had an excellent start to Year 9. She has taken a really positive lead to fundraising for the Morocco Expedition by selling things at an event outside of school. Well done Abi keep up the great work!

Year 10 – Riley Moody
Riley has been an exemplary student this term, demonstrating consistent hard work across all subjects. His attendance has been excellent, and he always completes his homework to a high standard. He is kind, caring, and brings a cheerful, positive energy to the classroom.
He enthusiastically takes part in extra-curricular activities, especially the Fun Friday sessions—where he has been Mr. Lewis’s YMCA buddy—and he also performed confidently in the Winter Showcase.
He was selected to support both the Open Day tours and the Japanese student tours, representing the school with maturity and pride. Riley was also a fantastic ambassador during the Multi-Skills Programme, and he showed great initiative in arranging his work experience placement with them.

Year 11 – Michael Griffiths
For fantastic attendance and effort in all lessons around school. He is kind, polite and students and staff are always positive about him. Michael is a pleasure to have as part of the Barnwood Park community.

Chelsea's Story

All of Year 8 watched the production of Chelsea’s Story at the end of last term. This was performed by an external company who shows this production to all the secondary schools in Gloucestershire. The play shows the true story of a young girl called Chelsea. It follows two students who discover Chelsea’s Diary.

Chelsea was a 15 year old girl who had fallen out with her friends and family. She then met a guy called Gary. Gary was kind, understanding, had a nice car, had his own flat and listened to her.

Unfortunately, Gary was not all that he seemed to be and his behaviour towards Chelsea changed as time went on. Chelsea’s story, as written in her diary, is acted out and examined by the 2 students who, along with their teacher, attempt to understand what happened to her. Her story is acted out and, at various points, what has been acted out is examined and discussion is held as to what had happened to her and why this occurred.

The aim of the play is to look at healthy and unhealthy relationships and for students to understand the difference between the two and to help them look for characteristics of both. It also looked at exploitation – educating students as to what this is and to recognise the signs. Students are also informed of where they can go for help and support if they have any concerns or worries about relationships or exploitation. Follow up work was completed in PSHE lessons.
